The St. John Winter Festival started in 1976 to celebrate the Bicentennial of America, and has continued to be the main fundraiser for the school. The festival has grown in making St. John into a community that comes together to enjoy the camaraderie of friends, family, and neighbors. The festival is a time for the Whiting/Robertsdale community to gather and reconnect with each other.

Dear Friend of St. John the Baptist Catholic School:

For over a century, St. John the Baptist School has been at the forefront of Catholic education in Northwest Indiana, serving students from Whiting, Hammond, East Chicago as well as Chicago’s Southeast Side, and Hegewisch communities. Our school serves as a pillar of faith-based education and has been awarded Exemplary Status by the State of Indiana.

The annual St. John the Baptist Festival is our major fundraising event and is vital to our school’s financial stability. Major projects which will benefit from the upcoming St. John the Baptist Festival include, but are not limited to, improving and updating student curriculum, school improvements, and STEM resources and technology for students and teachers.  For this reason, we are seeking YOUR help. Monetary donations are used to defray the overall expenses associated with food, prizes, and entertainment during the festival weekend.  We also gladly accept donations of goods and materials, as well as gift certificates, merchandise, food, memorabilia, or any other gifts that may be included in our Silent Auction or various raffles.

This year’s Festival is scheduled for January 26-28, 2024.  This weekend emphasizes the fun that happens when families & friends gather, turn off the electronics, and spend time together. The festival is a wonderful time for family, friends, and our community to come together and enjoy a weekend of food, fun, and entertainment.
