Confirmation Update

Re: Confirmation Families

I hope you are doing well during these uncertain times. Please know of our continued prayers for you and your families. I would like to offer an update for you as it pertains to Confirmation.

We have received the information from the Diocese in regard to the re-scheduling of Confirmations. We have submitted 3 potential dates for Confirmation and we will now wait for the Bishop to confirm which of those dates we will receive.

In addition, we were also informed that as we begin to plan for the celebration of the Sacrament. We should do so following the current CDC Social Distancing Guidelines.  These guidelines permit us to seat a maximum of 100 people in our church building at any one time.

With that information, Fr. Mark and I have discussed the best options for our community, and in light of the time of year we are currently in, approaching summer and the onset of family vacations, we have decided on the following.

Confirmation dates-

  • We have chosen dates in the month of September. Once confirmed I will forward the date to you.
  • We will have 2 Confirmation Liturgies on the same day. Times to be determined by the Bishop

Once the date is confirmed follow these steps to make a Reservations

  • The parent of the Confirmandi will need to call the Rectory (219-659-0023) after you are notified of the date to reserve a spot for your Confirmandi and guests at the Liturgy of your choice.
  • When calling, you will make a reservation for the Confirmandi and guests (maximum of 3 guests plus the Confirmandi, one of the guests need to be the Sponsor or Proxy for the Sponsor)
  • All Confirmandi, Sponsor forms, and fees must be in my office before the reservation can be made.
  • Please do not make a reservation until you are certain how many of the 3 guests will be present.
  • Reservations / Seating is available for up to 22 Confirmandi and their guests at each Mass
  • The Mass will be Live Streamed for the family members who are unable to attend. Visit our Parish website for the Communion mass Link as time approaches, www.stjohnbap.org

As the time approaches more information will be provided

We are aware that this date is quite some time away. We also realize that this is not the perfect solution for all. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Peace and Blessings,

Mrs. Sandona
