St.Adalbert's Church will be participating in GIVING TUESDAY 2020. Giving Tuesday is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving which is dedicated to mark the start of the holiday season of charity and giving. Once again our church has chosen to bless and collect for the men's homeless shelter in downtown Hammond, HAMMOND CITY RESCUE MISSION.
We will be collecting both new and used clothing items. Winter coats, hats, gloves, scarfs, boots, socks, jeans, sweatshirts, men's underwear, undershirts and long underwear. We will also will be collecting bar soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, tooth brushes, paper towels, toilet paper, kleenex, laundry soap and dryer sheets.
This year we have also decided to collect Christmas cards that can be distributed to the men for the holiday.
We understand that the entire community is going through hard times right now due to the corona virus. If you are unable to donate a physical item, we understand. We will have the church open for prayer during the collection times and invite you to stop by, light a candle and take a few minutes to pray for your family and our community. We will also have extra Christmas cards available for you to fill out for someone at the shelter when there, if you wish.
The only entrance that will be open during donation or prayer times will be the handicap accessible door on the South or main parking lot side of church. Due to the corona virus, we do ask that you wear a mask if you choose to enter the church for prayer and the pews are marked for social distancing. Hand sanitizer will also be available.
Collection dates and times will be as follows: Tuesday, December 1st, 9:30am to 5:30pm; Sunday, December 6th, 10am to 4pm; Sunday, December 13th, 10am to 4pm.
